“Raum für Tee” means a place devoted to tea.
It is a quiet corner in my home in Zollikerberg, Zürich where five to six people can sit together and enjoy tea.
In this small and intimate tea room, you can gently turn your attention to the fragrance and flavor in your cup.
“Raum”, though, is more than just a physical place; it also points to an inner openness — a calm, unoccupied space in the mind where something meaningful can unfold.
When you join us for tea, please set aside the concerns of daily life and bring a small space in your mind for tea.
As you sip your tea, let its fragrance gently fill that space, bringing warmth and peace to your heart.
My name is Jae-Hyoun Hong, and I am a tea lover from South Korea. I have been living in Zürich, Switzerland, since 2010.
Before dedicating myself fully to tea, I studied Japanology and linguistics in Korea and Japan and worked as a researcher in these fields.
When I first arrived in Switzerland, the early days were not always easy. During that time, East Asian tea offered me comfort and kept me connected to my home in Asia.
This experience inspired me to deepen my understanding of tea. I returned to university to study East Asian tea and tea culture at the Department of Tea Culture Management at Wonkwang Digital University in Korea.
Alongside my studies, I worked in tea shops, advising customers, leading tea tastings, and hosting workshops. Under the guidance of experienced tea masters, I practiced the Korean tea ceremony and Chinese Gongfu tea, exploring all six main tea categories and discovering the unique character of each one.
Over the years, tea has helped me take root in my new home, Switzerland. More than anything else, it became my inner home—a quiet companion that keeps me connected to myself wherever I go.
I would be happy to share this journey with you.
